I’m a DIY guru & my Pringles hack makes painting walls easier – there’s no mess

SPILLING paint from your brushes and rollers is one of the worst parts of decorating your home.

But a DIY expert has shared a genius way to keep the tools clean between uses – and reduce the mess to tidy up after you are done.

The only tool needed is a screwdriver or drill to make a hole in the plastic lid.

And all you need is an empty Pringles tube to do it.

The expert took the crisp tube and used a drill to make a hole in the plastic lid, before removing it.

Next they slid the lid over the metal frame of a paint roller, with the top towards the handle, and pushed it all the way down.

The final step was to add the roller itself and start decorating.

But the clever bit came at the end when the decorator had finished their coat.

They simply put the dirty roller into the empty Pringles tube to stop the excess paint coming off between uses.

Better still, once the decorating job was done, they pushed the lid back along the metal frame, using it to detach the dirty roller and store it.

After sharing the hack on TikTok account @hottrend.diy.tip.trick, people were wowed by the clever use of something they would normally throw out.

Mini wrote: “Could have saved us lots of headaches seven months ago.”

“Simply GENIUS!” enthused Jessica Diamond Violin.

Fan Amanda Chadwick joked: “So I NEED to keep eating Pringles?”

And Drewzyboy laughed: “Just tried the Pringles one. My wall now smells of cheese and onion.”

But T1msTooBased was sceptical, commenting: “As a painter i can tell, don’t do the first ‘hack’. Put it in a bucket with like 7cm of water, until you can wash it out.”

Other people suggested putting the roller in a plastic bag instead and storing it in the fridge, so the paint doesn’t dry out.

Sliding the lid to the end of the metal bar keeps it from interfering with your rolling and protects the handle from paint drips.

After applying a coat, you simply pop the roller back inside the tube for storage without any spills.
