AJAX are the latest European giant linked with Jordan Henderson.
The England midfielder, 33, is reportedly aching to quit Saudi side Al-Ettifaq just six months after leaving Liverpool.
Bayern Munich, Bayer Leverkusen and Celtic have already been mentioned.
But Henderson’s £350,000-a-week wages will surely be a huge problem, especially as Al-Ettifaq say they want to keep him.
Now Sky Sports say Ajax have joined other clubs monitoring his situation.
The Dutch team want more experience at the heart of their side.
Having finished a disappointing fifth last season, Ajax are fifth and 23 points behind top-flight leaders PSV Eindhoven this term.
Premier League clubs such as Newcastle could show interest in Henderson.
And it would be no surprise if home-town club Sunderland are dreaming of recapturing him.
But the Black Cats as much as Ajax would face a major complication over Henderson’s salary.

Ex-Tottenham winger Steven Bergwijn is understood to be Ajax’s current top earner – on close to £69,000 a week.
That’s five times less than Henderson’s salary in the Middle East.
Not only that, Al-Ettifaq paid Liverpool around £13million for the 81-cap star.
So the terms of any loan deal or sale would be a mighty headache for many of Henderson’s admirers.
