Man Utd star nearing return
Argentine defender Lisandro Martinez could make a shock return against Tottenham this weekend.
The 25-year-old has been missing with a foot injury since September.
According to the Manchester Evening News, however, he is nearing a comeback and could even face Spurs on Sunday.
Former Red Devil eyeing transfer
Nemanja Matic reportedly wants to return to the Premier League – after telling Rennes he is ready to quit the club.
But he has allegedly considered RETIRING if an immediate transfer exit gets blocked.
The former Chelsea and Manchester United star, 35, joined the Ligue 1 outfit in the summer after one season with Roma following his Old Trafford exit in 2022.
Matic has reportedly struggled to gel with his team-mates and there are complications regarding his children’s schooling.
According to L’Equipe, Matic skipped training on Tuesday and has emptied his locker in the hope of finding a new club to enable an early exit from his two-year contract until 2025.
The report adds that the Serbian is “unhappy at Rennes and pushing for an immediate departure” with it growing increasingly unlikely he will play for Rennes ever again.
And it is thought the central midfielder is keen to sign for French rivals Lyon or head back to England, with several clubs apparently interested.
BREAKING: Tottenham confirm Werner signing
Spurs have confirmed the signing of Timo Werner on loan until the end of the season.
The former Chelsea forward will bolster Ange Postecoglou’s ranks ahead of Sunday’s trip to Manchester United.
Erik ten Hag’s side had been interested in taking the German on loan from RB Leipzig themselves.
But Spurs quickly won the race for the his signature.
Man Utd legend fumes at corners
Paul Scholes slammed Manchester United’s “s**t” short corners during the win over Wigan.
The Red Devils bounced back to winning ways against the League One outfit in the FA Cup tie.
Diogo Dalot opened the scoring with his second of the season before Bruno Fernandes netted from the spot in the second half and United will now face either Newport County or National League side Eastleigh in the fourth-round.
However, Scholes was not happy with one tactic deployed by manager Erik ten Hag.
The club legend took to social media to slam the team’s corner routines.
He wrote: “Short corners are sh**.”
PSV eye Man Utd star
PSV Eindhoven have reportedly formalised their interest in Manchester United outcast Facundo Pellistri.
The Uruguayan star has struggled to impress Erik ten Hag who is prepared to let the winger go in the January transfer window.
Pellistri featured in United’s 2-0 victory against Wigan on Monday for the first time since September.
But that could be his last game for a while as he is set to be the next star to leave the club this month, according to the Daily Mail.
The report claims Ten Hag is willing to let Pellistri go meaning PSV has confirmed their interest in the Uruguayan international.
The Eredivise side are set to begin talks with United about a potential loan move.
However, they will not be alone as MLS giants LA Galaxy are also interested in the winger.
Team news update
Erik ten Hag has offered a team news update ahead of this Sunday’s clash with Tottenham at Old Trafford.
The Dutchman, 53, said: “I think there will be some players, I think it’s hopeful that they can be back at the weekend.
“So I’m talking about Christian Eriksen, potentially Luke Shaw.
“Harry (Maguire) maybe, Mason (Mount) I think he needs some days or a week more.”
