SIR JIM RATCLIFFE has continued his overhaul of Manchester United by appointing a new CEO, Omar Berrada.
And this signing took place directly from local rivals Manchester City with the capture of their Chief Football Operations Officer.
Who is Omar Berrada?
Omar Berrada has joined Man Utd from Man City as their new CEO.
Berrada takes over from United’s interim CEO Patrick Stewart – who had been in the role since Richard Arnold’s exit.
He spent 13 successful years at City as their Chief Football Operations Officer, working closely with director of football Txiki Begiristain on transfers and contracts.
It was also during last season that City announced record-breaking profits and revenues.
Berrada was a key player in City’s Treble success both on and off the pitch and played a big role in the signing of Erling Haaland in the summer of 2022.
Both Ratcliffe and the Glazers made a joint decision to go with Berrada after Ineos had initially identified and pursued him.
City’s statement on Berrada’s exit read: “Manchester City Football Club can confirm that Omar Berrada has resigned from his role as chief football operations officer at City Football Group.
“The club understands his decision to look for a new challenge and he leaves with our thanks and best wishes.”
Before his tenure at City, Berrada was the Head of Sponsorship at Barcelona.
City’s website describes Berrada: “Omar’s expertise in sponsorship and media rights reflects 11 years of senior-level experience in the sports industry and five years in the telecommunications sector.”
