The third celebrity allegedly joining the show is Scottish radio presenter Edith Bowman, 50.

A TV insider told the publication that the three stars were chosen for their ability to reach all age groups.

The source said: ‘Celebrity MasterChef is one of telly’s most prized gigs. Hardly anyone turns it down. It’s seen as a real achievement as well as being relatively easy to fit alongside busy schedules.

“As such, the BBC always attracts an impressive range of names from a broad spectrum of celebrity. This trio really demonstrates that there’s someone for all ages and backs up the BBC’s pledge of continually trying to reach the younger audiences.

“H is great fun and bosses are excited to see how his journey pans out, while Edith is such a safe pair of hands. Snoochie has great energy too and won new fans when she was in Gwrych Castle for I’m A Celeb.’

The show will see co-presenters John Torode and Gregg Wallace will put famous faces through six weeks of challenges to be crowned champion of the cooking competition.

Last year saw opera singer and broadcaster Wynne Evans crowned the 2023 Celebrity MasterChef winner.

He beat out competition in the final from Love Island’s Luca Bish and Emmerdale actress Amy Walsh.

Reacting to his win, Wynne said: ‘This is a brilliant feeling. The kids will love this, they’ll be like “Dad! I can’t believe you did it when all you cook for us is beans on toast!”.

‘The experience has totally changed my life. It has just been beautiful and I can’t thank Gregg and John and everybody here at MasterChef enough.

‘When you start to believe in yourself, that’s when good things start to happen. I don’t know how a MasterChef winner celebrates but I know how a bloke from Carmarthen celebrates!’

In typical Wynne style, the entertainer celebrated his win by balancing the trophy on his head and bursting into song.

Speaking on his win, Gregg said: ‘Wynne gives us theatre. I have never seen a celebrity like him ever before and I’m not sure we ever will again.’

While John added: ‘Every single dish tells a story. His food, it’s exciting, it’s ambitious, and it’s got a little bit of artistic flare. He’s a proud Welshman with a big heart.’
