HEROIC Evie Green beams despite already having waited nearly a year for a new heart.
The four-year-old was diagnosed with dilated cardiomyopathy at four months.
The disease results in a stretching and thinning of the heart muscle.
She has been on the waiting list since the day after the last Valentine’s Day and is desperate to get home to Middlesbrough and big brother Theo, five.
Last year, Evie was hooked up to a device on Theo’s fifth birthday — and was too ill to even know it was his special occasion.
She was so unwell, the usually-inseparable pair had to wait weeks before they could see each other.
“She’s desperate to get back to him.
“They are best friends, and have the most incredibly strong bond. She follows him around like a little shadow.”
