Rounding out the foursome was Joshua Jackson‘s character Pacey Witter, Dawson’s best friend.
The show ran for six seasons from 1998 to 2003, charting the four’s entwined lives through high school and college. The final episode flash forwarded by five years to catch up with the group in their new lives in 2008.
Speaking last year Katie revealed that a possible revival of the series has been discussed ‘many’ times in recent years.
In a conversation with Variety the actress seemed intrigued by the concept of bringing Dawson’s Creek back, but she also worried that the culture might have changed too much from the noughties when it initially aired, which could sap some of the original’s sweetness.
‘There have been many discussions over the years. We all loved the experience,’ she said when she was quizzed.
‘There’s a protection that comes along with the discussion. The show was a time capsule,’ she continued. ‘To put it into today’s world might tarnish it a little bit.
‘It was right before everyone had a phone and social media and all of that, so there was an innocence that was there between the characters that was one of the things I think people liked about the show. To put it into the setting of today’s world, I’m not sure,’ she mused.

‘We’ve often talked about it,’ the actress added. ‘For now, we kind of just keeping saying that until there is a real reason to do it, it hasn’t been something where people have said, ‘This is the take on it.”
Michelle meanwhile has recently gushed about the foundations the show gave her for her acclaimed career, which has seen he earn five Academy Award nominations.
‘It taught me how to be responsible, it taught me how to get to work on time, it taught me how to prepare at night for the next day, it taught me sort of like the basics of how to take care of myself,’ Michelle recalled of her teenage years on the show in a 2023 interview.
She added of filming in South Carolina: ‘We were in like a very sleepy Southern town and the crew really felt like they looked out for us.’
‘They knew how young we were and they kind of put like bumpers around us, just made sure that we were safe and taken care of, that I went to the dentist, things that didn’t really come naturally to me.’
‘I really appreciate the way that people let us kind of have a childhood honestly.’
