Adding fuel to the fire, Liam continued: ‘I don’t need some w**k award by some geriatric in a cowboy hat.’

Another fan asked if any Oasis band members would attend the ceremony, and Liam took the opportunity to make a subtle dig at brother Noel: ‘The little fella loves hanging out with celebrities so he’d prob go.’

On Saturday, the Cleveland-based institution announced that Mariah Carey, Cher, Peter Frampton, Kool & the Gang, Lenny Kravitz, Sinéad O’Connor, Oasis, Ozzy Osbourne – who is lashing out at Kanye West for unauthorized use of the Black Sabbath song Iron Man – Sade, and Foreigner all made the cut for the first time.

Additionally, Dave Matthews Band, Mary J. Blige , Eric B. & Rakim, Jane’s Addiction and A Tribe Called Quest are all nominated again after failing to gain entrance in their last nominations.

In order to be eligible, the musical act must have released their first song in 1999 or earlier.

‘This remarkable list of nominees reflects the diverse artists and music that the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame honors and celebrates,’ John Sykes, chairman of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Foundation, said in a press release.

‘Continuing in the true spirit of rock & roll, these artists have created their own sounds that have impacted generations and influenced countless others that have followed in their footsteps.’

More than 1000 members of the Hall of Fame’s international voting body of artists, music industry professionals and historians will vote on the class of 2024 inductees.

The inductees will be announced in late April and the annual ceremony will take place in the fall in Cleveland.

Liam has joined forces with Stone Roses star John Squire for a new album while Noel, 56, is said to have teamed up with Happy Mondays’ Shaun Ryder .

According to The Sun , Noel and Shaun have recorded the track Domino Bones (Gets Dangerous) which will appear on the debut album of Shaun’s supergroup Mantra Of The Cosmos.

A source said: ‘Noel and Liam have always been competitive in their music careers and have both dealt each other some jibes about their solo work.

That rivalry is now branching out into a battle of the supergroups. Liam and John’s first single, Just Another Rainbow, is out tomorrow, with the album expected to drop over the summer.

‘It’ll be the same time Mantra Of The Cosmos will be releasing theirs, and Dynamo Bones will be on the album. Noel and Shaun have talked about working together for some time and they’ve now formally registered the track.’

Shaun’s supergroup also features fellow Happy Mondays star Bez along with Ride and Oasis’ Andy Bell and The Who’s Zak Starkey.

Mantra Of The Cosmos released their debut single Gorilla Geurilla last summer which they debuted at London venue The Box.

It was the last straw for the duo and the show was cancelled, along with the rest of the tour.

Noel issued a statement at the time: ‘It’s with some sadness and great relief to tell you that I quit Oasis tonight.

‘People will write and say what they like, but I simply could not go on working with Liam a day longer.’

The duo quickly went their separate ways when the band disbanded and their infamous decade-long feud has been running ever since.

However, it was recently revealed the brothers have been patching things up in the wake of Noel’s split from his wife Sara MacDonald in November.

Sources who know the siblings say that the split had an ‘instant impact’ on relations between Liam and Noel, who are now ‘closer than they have been for years’.
