Forecasters are predicting strong gusts will batter the south coast, causing disruption all morning.

Plymouth, Torquay, Exeter, Portsmouth and Brighton can expect forceful winds until around 8am.

Gales are thought to reach 60mph in areas impacted as commuters make their way to work.

In other parts, a yellow warning for rain has been put in place.

Heavy downpours are set to soak much of Wales on Friday, as well as Hereford, Gloucester and the south of England.

Those impacted can expect flooding on the roads and delays to services.

It was issued at midnight and will remain in place until 3pm today.

And as we enter the first day of March, Northern Ireland has been alerted to snow.

“A period of rain and sleet, occasionally turning to snow, is expected on Friday morning,” say the Met Office.

The yellow warning was issued from 4am until 10am.

A Met Office spokesperson said: “A frosty start with patchy fog clearing quickly.

“Rain and hill snow in the southwest, spreading northeast and turning heavy at times, with blustery showers following behind.

“Drier elsewhere, although showers in the far north. Breezy and feeling cold.”
