‘I got a lot clearer about how I wanted to operate in the world. Who I wanted to surround myself with, and what I was not going to do anymore.

‘I think the power of “no” is so strong – for me, it’s considerably stronger than “yes,”‘ the actress shared.

In 2012, she founded Honest, a lifestyle brand selling personal care, beauty, baby and household products.

Alba credits her involvement in the company for connecting her with other women with similar aspirations like Sofia Vergara, Salma Hayek, and America Ferrera.

She noted, ‘I think building community as women is really important. I believe society for too long has brainwashed us into thinking that we should be competitive, or that we are only worthwhile when we’re at a certain point in our lives.

‘But I think the more we can put our arms around each other at every stage of life and celebrate one another, the better.’

The big screen icon shared what its like to age in the industry and what she does to maintain positive and assertive attitude:

‘There’s this confidence, a sort of swagger that happens when you are in your late 30s and into your 40s and 50s, it’s just undeniable. You can really feel the energy And it’s so cool because it’s very much the opposite of what we have been taught as women.

Cash, who is the son of Hill Street Blues actor Michael Warren, met Jessica while working as an assistant director on her critically savaged 2005 film Fantastic Four.
