While on paper it’s not the worst result, given they remain just one point off the Gunners and three points off Liverpool, it speaks to a bigger pattern across the season.

The club are yet to win in games against the top five teams in the league this season.

They lost to Arsenal away, before drawing at home, drew twice with Liverpool, lost away to Aston Villa and drew at home to Spurs.

And to make matters worse, today’s 0-0 draw with Arsenal marks the first time the club haven’t scored at the Etihad in 57 matches.

In their remaining games against the top five, City will host Aston Villa on Wednesday, and still have to travel to the Tottenham Hotspur stadium before the season is up.

While they beat Spurs away in the FA Cup in January, but are yet to winthere in the league since Spurs began playing at their new home in 2019.

And Haaland’s failure to score today means he’s scored just four goals in nine league games since he returned in January.

While still impressive, he’s a long way off his scintillating form of last year, which saw him score 53 goals.

And his performance today drew criticism from Roy Keane, who was not impressed with his hold up play.

City’s draw with Arsenal leaves them three points off league leaders Liverpool.

A tricky midweek fixture against Unai Emery‘s Aston Villa will offer Guardiola the chance to bounce back as the title race continues to be split three ways.

The club could still achieve a back to back treble, having reached the quarter-final of the Champions League, where they will play Real Madrid, and the semi-final of the Fa Cup, where they will play Chelsea.
