'Good lord just forfeit' – Villa forced to make last minute change to line-up


ASTON VILLA were forced into a late change ahead of their match against Manchester City.

Emiliano Martinez had been named in the starting XI but was forced to withdraw due to illness.

The Argentine goalkeeper was replaced by Robin Olsen for the clash at the Etihad Stadium.

A club statement was posted on social media confirming the last-minute change.

It read: “Robin Olsen will start in goal for Aston Villa. Emi Martínez misses out through illness.”

Villa fans were in shock on social media as they reacted to the news.

One fan posted: “Confidence just went from fractional to imperceptible.”

A second commented: “We could lose this by five, I’m so serious,”

A third wrote: “That’s the beginning of the end.”

A fourth said: “Good lord, just forfeit the match.”

A fifth pleaded: “It’s a bit late for April Fools guys.”

Another added: “Looking more and more like a write-off this match.”
