Cucurella was in action last night as the Blues took on his former club.

Each time he or fellow ex-Seagull Moises Caicedo possessed the ball, they were booed by many in the Amex crowd.

The full-back didn’t let the treatment affect his performance, and even laid on the assist for Cole Palmer‘s brilliant opener.

Chelsea then doubled their lead through Christopher Nkunku just after the hour mark.

Danny Welbeck pulled one back for the hosts deep into stoppage time after Reece James‘ red card.

But Cucurella and Co held firm to win 2-1, grabbing a vital three points.

After the match, the former Amex favourite had some fun with his old fans on social media.

He posted a pair of photos of himself from the match on X, accompanying them with laughing and blue heart emojis, while writing: “BOOOOOOOOO!!”

Cucurella also posted four pictures to his Instagram account, with three from the match and the other of WWE heel John Cena.

Many of his team-mates loved the post.

Noni Madueke commented with five laughing emojis before writing: “someone take this guy’s phone man.”

Cole Palmer added a trio of laughing emojis and two hearts.

While Carney Chukwuemeka commented: “What a guy man.”

And Trevoh Chalobah added “Yooo” as well as three laughing and three bicep emojis.

Chelsea’s win was their fourth on the bounce in the Premier League.

The Blues are now in pole position to finish sixth in the table, and could even climb above Tottenham on the final day if they beat Bournemouth and Spurs lose to Sheffield United.
