The Citizens secured their sixth top-flight title in seven years when pipping challengers Arsenal to the ultimate prize on the final day of the 2023-24 campaign.

Pep Guardiola’s side won the division by two points having won 28 of their 38 matches, scored a league-high 96 goals and won each of their final nine games.

The Spanish tactician looks set to continue his trophy-laden tenure at the Etihad Stadium, and the task could be made infinitely more straightforward with Jurgen Klopp now out of the picture.

Saying that, William Hill believe that it’ll actually be a tougher assignment for City next season.

City were priced at 8/11 to be crowned English champions in this year’s pre-season prices, while nearest rivals Arsenal were a bumper 8/1 before a ball was kicked.

It’s a different story now.

Mikel Arteta’s improving side are offered at 9/4 to win there first title in over 20 years, and are expected to strength in attack.

Liverpool are 13/2 to come out on top with Chelsea at 16/1, Manchester United and Newcastle at 25/1 and Tottenham the best of the remainder at 33/1.

Spokesperson for William Hill, Lee Phelps, said: “Manchester City were made to wait until the final day to get over the line, but we always had confidence the title was going back to the Etihad – and priced it accordingly at the start of this season.

“Now though, we think Pep’s men will face a trickier task to claim five Premier League titles in a row and there could be plenty of twists next season that could derail them.

“Arsenal were City’s closest challenger, to our surprise, and our odds of 9/4 this season reflects how big a threat we think they’ll be to City.

“Despite Liverpool having to face up to a new season without Jurgen Klopp, their price of 13/2 is in fact shorter than their 8/1 price ahead of the start of the 2023-24 campaign.”
