All in all they staked a total of £33 and walked off almost £40,000 richer from Sunday’s racing.

The two bets in question were a Lucky 31, returning £25,988.40, and a £1 each-way five-fold which paid £13,413.39.

Paul Nicholls’ ex-wife Georgina got the bet off and running when her seven-year-old mare Saint Bibiana won a Class 5 handicap chase at Stratford at 6-1.

The Boola Boss then obliged in the next race at 4-1 for trainer and jockey combo Rebecca Curtis and Paul O’Brien.

It was over to Ripon next where Radio Goo Goo won the six-furlong British EBF Premier Fillies’ Handicap by a length from Glorious Angel at odds of 3-1.

There was a tense moment in the fourth leg of the punt as Ey Up Its The Boss had to cling on with everything he had to claim a 1m2f Class 5 handicap.

Tony Coyle and Kaine Wood’s five-year-old won by just a head at 6-1 to keep the punts rolling over to the final leg back at Stratford.

But thankfully there wasn’t a moment’s sweat as 11-4 Fancy Stuff won by eight-and-a-half lengths for Sean Bowen and trainer Tom Gretton.

Spokesperson for William Hill, Lee Phelps, said: “We were doubly stung on Sunday by one punter who failed to miss with five winning selections at Stratford and Ripon, landing two huge bets at odds of 3,674-1.

“They were clearly confident in their selections as a Lucky 31 was backed up by them putting all five horses in an each-way five-fold, which saw their returns come in at close to £40k.

“Ey Up Its The Boss looked to be their only moment of concern as he scored by a head at Ripon.

“But the punter must have been counting their winnings from a long way out as Fancy Stuff breezed home to land the final leg of their bet and turn only a £33 outlay into a cool £39,401.79.”
