Lindsay Armaou will star in the series about the 1988 bombing with Suits star Patrick, 42.

Announcing her role, a spokesperson for the series said: “We are delighted to announce our wonderful @lindsayarmaou has been confirmed for the highly anticipated ‘Lockerbie’, a co-production between BBC and Netflix.

“The series is being made by World Productions and cast includes: Suits actor Patrick J Adam’s, Downton Abbey’s Phyllis Logan and Merritt Wever from Unbelievable. Release date TBC.”

45-year-old Linsday also starred in Netflix’s Stay Close back in 2022.

Also starring in the show is Sex Education’s Connor Swindells, 27, and Peter Mullan, 64.

Lockerbie is based on the attack, which took place on December 21 1988, and was the worst ever terror attack on British soil and the first major one on US citizens.

Aircraft Pan Am 103 was en route from Heathrow to JFK when the bomb exploded over Dumfriesshire and killed all 259 passengers and crew on board as well as 11 victims on the ground.

The programme will air on BBC One and BBC iPlayer, followed by Netflix in the UK and globally.

It will be the second TV show about Lockerbie to be commissioned after Sky also announced a programme starring Oscar winner Colin Firth, 63.

He plays the role of a grieving father in the series based on campaigner Dr Jim Swire’s book The Lockerbie Bombing: A Father’s Search For Justice, which describes his own journey after daughter Flora died in the attack.
