FINDING the perfect beauty gem that is within budget can be a trial.
One woman found the perfect dupe for her much pricier buy and even made an Excel spreadsheet about it.
Redditor Raph5885 dished on her makeup purchase on the social media platform.
“I found this by chance but the ingredients of these two mascaras are 99% the same and the 15 first [ingredients] are exactly the same, in the same order,” she said.
The pricier mascara is by Lancôme while the dupe is by Maybelline.
She posted a picture of her Excel spreadsheet which included a comparison of all the ingredients.
“I was so excited I made an Excel spreadsheet,” she added.
HOW IT’S DONE
Several Redditors had their questions and commentary for the makeup fan.
“Girl, how do you do that? Like how do you compare the ingredients? Do you just type all of it one by one?” one asked.
“Copy paste all the list and then put them in order one by one,” she replied.
Another commended her for her quirky approach.
“I love this, I compare ingredients myself all the time, and see companies reuse formulas all the time,” one wrote.
“L’Oreal owns both Lancôme and Maybelline, so I’m not at all surprised.
“This actually helps me, but the other way around — I hated Sky High and now I know not to waste my money on Idôle.”
Another made a suggestion for another brand to add to the spreadsheet.
“You can add the L’Oreal Panorama to that list, it’s almost identical to Sky High,” they wrote.
Yet another wrote that they saw a difference in the two mascaras.
“I hated Sky High but love Idôle,” they said.
“I think the mascara wand is as crucial as the formula, if not more so.”
The Maybelline mascara boasts glamorous volume and longer lashes.
The Lancôme mascara also promises the same, but with a lifting effect.
It also boasts a formula that leaves lashes clump-free.
