A woman’s modern bathroom has divided interior design enthusiasts thanks to a series of “questionable” and potentially dangerous design choices.

The space was built after the UK client’s small bathroom was remodeled and merged with the adjoining library in the home.

The bathroom is complete with black and white tiles, a raised freestanding bath with a ‘moat’ around the perimeter, chrome towel rails, chandeliers and recessed shelving.

The layout is not in keeping with traditional bathrooms as the toilet is located right at the entrance. A giant bathtub sits atop a small set of steps in the corner.

An open shower is opposite the toilet and has no glass cladding or shower curtain and the walls and floors are both tiled in different black and white designs.

While the remodel has created a modern new look, many are concerned about the potential risks posed by its unique features.

“I twisted my ankle, tore my ACL and broke my neck just looking at this travesty,” one woman wrote in a photo of the bathroom in an interior design Facebook group.

“Not to be dramatic, but I can already imagine all the ways I would slip to my death in this bathroom,” said another.

She and many others called the tiled steps leading to the bath a major hazard, especially when the bathroom is wet.

‘Why are those stairs even there? Even if you could see them through the optical illusion, you’d still stumble and fall.’

“This is a cracked skull waiting to happen.”

However, the bathroom installers insist that it is completely safe and simply a reflection of the customer’s desire for a unique, eye-catching bathroom.

The floor tiles are ‘designed specifically for bathrooms’ and can therefore handle ‘wet and bare feet’ without risk, they say.

‘Each step is larger than the prescribed size and exactly the same size from top to bottom, so plenty of tread and very safe. Because I’ve personally been in the room, it’s very obvious where the stairs are — maybe not as visible from the camera angles, either,” they added.

“This bathroom is exactly as the customer requested. At one point there was even talk of possibly more stairs in the bath.’

In response to a critic who said they “stubbed their toes looking at it,” the company simply replied, “Pay more attention to your surroundings and that won’t happen again.”

“Either you love it or you hate it. But either way, it’s a monster of a bathroom and the craftsmanship that has gone into it is second to none,” they added.

Other interior fans praised the bathroom, saying that if the owner was happy, it was perfect.

“The vision they had is wild. But the job looks good! Well done,” one woman wrote.

‘I absolutely love it. It’s a masterpiece and that bath is something else. I want one!’
