Avatar: The Way of Water is now approaching its flight, as the week has passed by under the 10 million marking. The collections came to the tune of 7.10 crores and that also if there is also this great holiday of Republic Day in between. If it had run solo, good collections would of course have come in again. However, it was first and foremost week six in the running for the James Cameron-directed film and almost everyone who needed to see it has already done so. Second, there was Pathaan there for the competition.

Most importantly, all the key screens that provide the best returns – IMAX, 4DX, ICE – have been moved to Pathan and that’s why the best moolah came in from the 3d screens. It makes you wonder what the situation would have been like for Avatar: The Way of Water if Pathaan had also been released in 3D. In that case the Hollywood biggie could have been hit further by round 2 million at least.

Nevertheless, what the film still managed to do is worth its price in gold. It came at a time when apart from Drishyam 2 nothing else worked and that movie too was coming to an end. If it weren’t for Avatar: The Way of Water, theaters would have had a bare-bones look for a month and a half, because nothing of note has been released in theaters since its arrival. To the film’s credit, it still found its way 374.29 crores. Yes, at one point it had seemed that way 400 crores were there for the taking but now the movie should settle around 380 crores marking.

Still, nothing can take away the fact that it is an all-time blockbuster and the biggest ever Hollywood grosser in India.
