EXCLUSIVE: British Airways flight attendant ‘gets raped by expat Briton during layover in Barbados’
- The woman was allegedly raped in a hotel room prior to the flight back to Heathrow
- The Barbados Police are investigating the incident and are looking for the suspect
A British Airways flight attendant allegedly raped in her hotel room during a layover in Barbados, MailOnline can reveal.
The woman had spent the evening drinking with crew members on the Caribbean island when a man she knew joined the group. She later invited the man, who lives on the island, to her room, it is understood.
Once there, the man raped her, according to her statement to local police, who have since said they are “actively investigating” the allegation — and that the attacker is awaiting arrest.
The flight attendant’s BA flight back to Heathrow from Grantley Adams Airport in Barbados was delayed by 14 hours.

A spokesman for the Barbados Police Department told MailOnline they are actively seeking the alleged rapist – believed to be an acquaintance of the victim – who is believed to be an expatriate living on the island.
“This is an active investigation into an allegation of rape by a British Airways crew member,” Assistant Commissioner Jefferson Clark said.
“We know who the man is and where he lives, but he’s not home. It’s a small island and we’ll locate it. He’s white, so most likely an expat.’
Barbados police later said a person interested in the alleged rape was being questioned.
The BA flight attendant remained on the island during the investigation.
Describing the events that happened earlier this year, the spokesman said the BA crew were drinking together at a karaoke bar.
They were joined for drinks by the man who is now wanted.
The police spokesman said: “She told us in her statement that the man was known to her. She invited him back to her hotel room, but what happened wasn’t voluntary. There is an allegation of rape.
“This is being taken very seriously and we are seeking an arrest.”

A BA source said the crew all enjoyed a karaoke night at a bar near their five-star hotel before returning to their rooms.
Police went to the luxury hotel where the victim was comforted by her colleagues.
She and four other members of the crew were asked to give detailed statements the morning after the incident and traveled to Bridgetown police station.
A member of the British High Commission was present at the police station to offer support.
BA pilots and flight attendants are advised not to allow others to share their room during overnight stays.
A BA spokesman said: “This is a police matter and we are supporting our colleagues at this time.”
