Dad mode activated! Colin Josht has been honest about his approach to parenting for years and reveals how it’s changed since he fell in love with Scarlet Johansson.
The How to be single star and the Black Widow actress got engaged in May 2019. Six months later, a source told exclusively Us weekly that Johansson’s daughter Rose, who arrived in 2014, was a huge fan of her soon-to-be stepfather.
“Colin is a great father figure to Rose,” the insider said in November 2019 about the little girl, whom Johansson shares with ex-husband Roman Dauric. “He likes to play with her and she’s obsessed with him.”
Jost, for his part, hadn’t always set his sights on fatherhood. He called humor the “most important thing” in his life before tying the knot in October 2020.
The comedian wrote in his July 2020 memoir: A very punchable facethat after applying three times, finally joining Harvard University’s Lampoon publication was the “happiest moment of my life.”
However, he admitted that another major milestone could finally take the cake. “I can still say that because I haven’t married or had kids yet,” he teased.
The Saturday Night Live writer married the Marvel star just months after the book came out, giving birth to a stepdaughter in the process.
Jost admitted in his memoir that he had already begun to see a shift in his view of parenting as he considered when his time at SNL would come to an end.
“I even woke up on a Sunday after a show and thought, ‘I’d love to raise a baby right now!'” he wrote. “Which is very different from when I woke up on Sunday and thought, ‘Can I go to the bathroom or should I just puke on this plant?'”
Us confirmed in August 2021 that Jost and Johansson were expecting their first child together. A day later, news came that the couple welcomed a baby boy. Jost revealed that little one’s name is Cosmo and wrote via Instagram, “We love him very much.”
