Dwayne Johnson Will Be The New Jack Sparrow To Replace Johnny Depp In Pirates Of The Caribbean Franchise After The Amber Heard Controversy?
Former wrestler Dwayne Johnson is one of the biggest stars in Hollywood and has been a part of several movies and franchises such as Fast & Furious, Black Adam and many more in the past. Now it looks like he wants to take over Johnny Depp’s popular franchise. Read on to know more.
After his brief stint with DCEU, the former WWE Superstar is about to appear in yet another franchise. If the rumors are true, he’ll be part of another Disney blockbuster franchise, and it’s none other than Pirates of the Caribbean.
The wacky Captain Jack Sparrow was played by Johnny Depp in the wildly popular Pirates of the Caribbean movie series. From 2003 through 2017, he played the role repeatedly and appeared in five different films. However, his connections with Disney have since severed, forcing them to look for a replacement.
According to Giant Freakin’ Robot, Dwayne Johnson has taken on the role of Johnny Depp in the Pirates of the Caribbean film series. However, the report has not yet been confirmed by Disney or the former WWE star turned actor.
Depp was fired from Pirates of the Caribbean after his ex-wife, Amber Heard, wrote an op-ed. The actor testified in the libel case involving his ex-wife that Disney cut ties with him because they didn’t want to risk negative publicity over his image as a domestic abuser.
After winning the defamation lawsuit, Johnny Depp got his reputation restored. However, he made the decision to reject the franchise’s offer of “$300 million and one million alpacas”.
A question about the possibility of Johnny Dep return to the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise was addressed to Jerry Bruckheimer, the movie producer, who replied, “Not at the moment. The future has yet to be decided.”
