A bizarre police chase in which several police cars slowly chase a Mercedes SUV along a stretch of highway has come to a dramatic end.

Footage from the chase shows 10 police cars, including several undercover vehicles, following a Mercedes SUV with a person on its roof along the M1 motorway in the Tweed region of northern NSW on Thursday.

The car was tracked for over 100km from a location in eastern Brisbane along the Gold Coast to the NSW/Queensland border.

Officers managed to stop the vehicle after placing road spikes, causing the driver to come to a stop near Cudgera Creek.

Police have arrested a 27-year-old man and two teenagers, ages 17 and 16.

Queensland Police told Daily Mail Australia the trio were wanted in connection with a burglary.

“Just before 9:30 a.m., police were called to an address in Shore Street, Cleveland, in connection with a burglary,” a spokesman said.

“Two men fled in a Mercedes SUV.”

The spokesperson said the vehicle had been tracked to the Queensland/New South Wales border by a PolAir helicopter.

“NSW Police successfully deployed a Tire Deflation Device and the Mercedes came to a stop in Cudgera Creek where NSW officers arrested 3 men.”

The man and two teenagers were taken to Tweed Heads police station after their arrest. They assist the police in the investigation.
