Isaac Hanson, Taylor Hanson and Zak Hanson formed their band in 1992, and while they’ve never stopped performing, over the years they’ve all taken on new roles – fatherhood!
The band has 15 children between them – Isaac is a father of three, Taylor is a father of seven, and Zac is a parent of five – and the majority of their children go by their middle names, following family tradition. (Isaac’s first name is Clarke, Taylor’s is Jordan.)
Taylor was the first of his brothers to start a family and welcomed him and his wife Natalie Hansoneldest son, Ezra, in 2002. Daughter Penelope arrived three years later, followed by River, Viggo, Wilhelmina, and Indy. Their seventh child (and third daughter), Maybebellene, was born in 2020.
Taylor stumbled over Parents of today in November 2017 on the benefits of a “bigger family,” explaining, “Everyone develops this innate ability to compromise, work with others, and realize that the whole world doesn’t revolve around you. It also encourages you to be an individual as you can clearly see your differences from a sibling. I see that with my children: they are very different, but I see that they love and respect each other.”
He went on to say that his kids were like “a crew” as they had been touring with their dad and uncles since they were little.
In 2017, Natalie explained why the whole family would embark on Hanson’s String Theory tour.
“Due to the timing of these shows and everything that is happening to us, we decided this was a good time to stick together and do this as a family,” Natalie wrote via Instagram at the time. “So, we’re on our way again! It’s been a while since we’ve had the whole crew with us full time and it’s crazy to think how small they were in years past. Now we have these big kids who are so cool and fun and help a lot. So all you parents of little ones out there, hang in there! It will be great!”
As for Isaac and Zac, the brothers have three and five children respectively. Isaac shares sons Everett and Monroe and daughter Odette with his wife, Nicole Hansonwhile Zac and wife Kathryn Hanson are the parents of sons Shepherd, Abraham and Quincy and daughters Junia and Lucille.
In February 2021, the singer narrated “Broken Angel” exclusively Us weekly that they stopped confirmed that baby No. 5. “We feel really fulfilled and complete with five!” Zac shared.
He added: “We always try to make music a very natural part of our children’s lives and encourage them to enjoy it and strive for it without feeling the pressure to perform or make a career out of it .”
