‘House of the Dragon’ Scribe Renews HBO Deal

Sara Hess solidifies her future on HBO.

The House of the Dragon exec producer and writer has signed a new two-year blanket deal with the Warner Bros. Discovery supported cable network.

Under the pact, Hess will continue her role on Dragon‘s upcoming second season and continue to develop new projects for the premium outlet.

She is an exceptional talent who writes with great depth and complexity, while always bringing humor and humor into her work,” said Francesca Orsi, exec vp programming and head of drama series at HBO. “We are incredibly grateful to her for her contributions to House of the Dragon as both writer and executive producer, as she is a key ingredient to the show’s success. She stays in her role on House of the Dragon for season two as she continues to develop her own projects at HBO.”

Hess first set foot at HBO in 2019 when she was preparing a new one Game of Thrones prequel, the Jane Goldman pilot of franchise maker George RR Martin. The drama starring Naomi Watts, which was produced by Hess-exec, focused on the “Age of Heroes” and was surprisingly passed over at the end of 2019. Game of Thrones prequel to House of the Dragon, which was picked up on the same day as the pilot was axed.

Hess started her career on HBO’s dead wood and counts seven years of Fox’s House under its credits. She is an NAACP award-winning writer and Emmy-nominated producer who also collaborated on Orange is the new black. She is assisted by Verve and attorney Lev Ginsburg.
