Some movie and TV stars have hurt themselves trying their own stunts…while others have suffered injuries through no fault of their own.
In one of the scariest examples teenage wolf alum Dylan O’Brien was seriously injured on the set of Maze Runner: The Death Cure and took half a year to recover – and even then he wasn’t sure he wanted to go back to production.
“I had lost a lot of function just in my daily routine,” the actor said Vulture in September 2017. “I wasn’t even at the point where I felt I could handle social situations, let alone show up every day and be responsible for my job. Long hours on set, performing and carrying a movie… it just makes you sweat.”
He continued: “Nothing in you wants to go back to that. It took a lot of searching deep through those gut feelings I had just because of the trauma I was experiencing to realize that I did want to get it over with.
Other actors may involve: Ruby rose recently revealed on The Tonight Show starring Jimmy Fallon that she experienced “6 to 12 weeks of chronic pain” after on-set stunts left her with two hernias that put her at risk for paralysis. “It was really terrifying,” she added.
O’Brien and Rose are not alone. Scroll down to see which Jesus interpreter was struck by lightning, which action star almost gave up acting during his recovery, which Emmy winner suffered a ‘corset-related injury’ and which other stars went to hospital after freak accidents on set.
