JERUSALEM – The Palestinian Health Ministry said Israeli troops shot dead a Palestinian at a checkpoint in the occupied West Bank on Friday, the latest bloodshed in an Israeli-Palestinian flare-up.
The Israeli army said the man, identified by Palestinians as 25-year-old Abdullah Qalalweh, approached troops at the Hawara checkpoint near the town of Nablus and refused to stop. The army said soldiers fired warning shots into the air before a soldier shot and killed the man.
