Hollywood star Jeremy Renner was trying to keep his snowplow from slipping and hitting his adult nephew when the actor was pulled and crushed by the vehicle on Jan. 1, according to an incident report from the Nevada sheriff’s office.

After using the plow to tow his cousin’s truck out of the snow, Renner “left the vehicle without putting the emergency brake on” when the heavy machinery began to slide sideways, according to the report, which also notes that the brake indicator light in the snowcat’s cab was not functioning, and “mechanical problems may have played a role in this accident,” reports Variety.

According to CNN, the report reads, “While the Pistenbully had some mechanical issues, based on our mechanical inspection, it is believed that the parking brake is preventing the Pistenbully from moving forward.”

“When runner attempted to stop or divert the Pistenbully to avoid injury to (his nephew), it was pulled under the vehicle by the track and run over.

Jeremy Renner’s cousin helped the ‘Avengersactor until emergency medical services arrived at the scene and airlifted him to hospital.

Renner suffered more than 30 bone fractures from the snowplow accident, which left him hospitalized with blunt chest trauma and orthopedic injuries. Renner is now recovering and undergoing physical therapy and has regularly used social media to update his fans on his health.

Variety confirmed on January 17 that Renner had left the hospital and returned home.

He more or less broke the news himself when he told fans on social media that he was “very excited” to see the season premiere of his Paramount+ series ‘Mayor of Kingstown’ at home.
