Beckinsale is not afraid to stand up for herself. When she felt her comments in an interview were being misinterpreted, she hit back. Beckinsale explained herself in this Instagram post. “In a recent interview, I was asked several times if I knew my IQ. I didn’t answer the question the first few times, but I told the truth that my mother had me tested when I was young, and it was high “I couldn’t remember the number, and after being pressed several times to call my mom and ask her, I did. Here’s the dilemma: telling the truth? Refuse to answer the question? To lie? Pretend it was lower? I told the truth and some journalists have been triggered by this. Do we really stand up to women for answering a question truthfully about their intelligence or education? Do we really still require women to make themselves stupid so as not to offend?’
Beckinsale has great skin. She revealed some of her secrets to People. Beckinsale says protecting her skin from the sun is one of her top tips. “I think part of it is of course a genetic thing, although you can screw that up. I didn’t see the sun for the first few decades of my life, and that’s probably been a big help. A big part of it was geography [growing up in England], but on the very rare occasions when we took a family vacation to a hot place, I was paranoid that I would get freckles in a mustache formation on my face. So I wore factor 70 [SPF]. I just didn’t want a mustache, so I used sunscreen.”
Beckinsale has a busy schedule, but she always makes time to relax. “I literally can’t go from day to night unless I’ve submerged myself in water,” she tells People. “Which is really annoying because I could get a hotel room and there will be cockroaches and go, ‘Okay, fine,’ but if [the room] doesn’t have a bathtub, I’ll say, “Sorry, can I move?” I really need to have that every day, no matter what. Even if it’s Oscar night and you get home at seven in the morning after going to 15 parties. I still have to go through the whole bath thing.”
Beckinsale shared her fitness secrets Form magazine. She admits that she doesn’t always feel like working out. However, she forces herself to get through it. “I’m definitely starting to dread it, do an incredibly hard workout, whine about it all the time, and eventually I feel 100 percent better when I leave,” she says. “Exercise is actually nature’s antidepressant.”
Beckinsale works out with personal trainer, Gunnar Peterson, to help her stay in shape. She told Shape Magazine about their sessions. “I train hard with Gunnar five or six times a week,” she says. “We have a lot in common, just like our kids. During our sessions we have long conversations about teenagers, and then one day I notice that my butt is in much better shape than I thought!”
