As Republicans on the House Oversight Committee plan to focus on allegations of bias on Twitter at Wednesday’s hearing, Democratic members are poised to highlight how the platform may have contributed to inciting violence at the U.S. Capitol on January 6, 2021.

“What makes this hearing tragic is that if our colleagues wanted to investigate a serious issue related to American democracy and social media, it is now staring us right in the face,” said Rep. Jamie Raskin (Md.), the panel’s top Democrat, is scheduled to say, according to prepared remarks shared with The Washington Post.
