A man has died while two others are in custody after a violent brawl over an attempted car break-in.
Police were called to Craigieburn in north Melbourne on Wednesday afternoon after reports of a man attempting to break into a car.
The man was approached by residents, which resulted in an alleged altercation.
The man was arrested when police arrived and was treated by paramedics, but became unresponsive and died at the scene.
Two men have been arrested and are currently assisting police in their investigation.

Hothlyn Drive was cordoned off and declared a crime scene as police launched an investigation into the incident.
Detectives and forensic investigators remained on site for much of Wednesday evening.
