Michael B. Jordan Gets Violent in ‘Saturday Night Live’ Promotion

Michael B. Jordan may be a little too invested in his own Belief III character during the first promo for his upcoming Saturday Night Live episode.

Jordan is ready to make his SNL hosting debut on the Jan. 28 episode of the NBC comedy series alongside musical guest Lil Baby.

In a video released Wednesday, the Black Panther star pensively takes in the sights of Studio 8H when he appears startled by cast member Michael Longfellow. Jordan proceeds to punch Longfellow not once but twice, causing the SNL featured player to exclaim, “Jesus B. Christ!”

A remorseful Jordan replies, “I’m so sorry – it’s muscle memory”, confirming that Longfellow’s nose is indeed broken. This leads Longfellow to complain, “I can’t have a broken nose.” I was hired based on my looks, not my talent.”

Jordan then jokes, “I know how that feels,” and the two seem to patch things up. The spot ends with Jordan finding a strange way to prevent this from happening again.

The episode marks SNL’It’s the second new one of the season, following last week’s with host Aubrey Plaza and musical guest Sam Smith. Jordan is promoting the release of the boxing film on March 3 Creed IIIin which he does double duty as both director and star.

The film sees Jordan’s Donnie Creed take on Dame Anderson (Jonathan Majors), a former childhood friend and fellow boxer recently released from prison. Tessa Thompson, Wood Harris, Florian Munteanu and Phylicia Rashad also star.

Saturday Night Live airs Saturdays at 11:30 p.m. on NBC and is streamed live on Peacock.
