Is love blind or blurry? Like Netflix’s Love is blind Season 2 is coming to a close, avid fans won’t have long to wait for more pod-based dating and plenty of drama.
“Yes, we have already filmed season three,” says the creator of the show Chris Cooling told UKs Subway in February 2022. “Each season is totally unique. Season three is a very different creature than season one or season two.
The Netflix reality TV series debuted in February 2020, where viewers include Amber Pike and Matt Barnett and Lawrence Speed and Cameron Hamilton both find unseen love sight. The second season also saw two couples – Danielle Ruhl and Nick Thompson and Iyanna McNeely and Jarette Jones, respectively – tie the knot after the duration of the experiment. (Both couples have since given up.)
“The fascinating thing is that they really embraced the experimental aspect of it,” says Coelen Subway about the success rate of the show. “We always talk about it being an experiment first and then a TV show. It’s almost as if the TV show is documenting the experiment. When you come on the wedding day – I was there at every wedding – they all embraced the idea that they were there with the same intention, which is that they are interested in finding love and finding someone to marry, to commit to to bind them for the rest of their lives.”
Season 3, filmed shortly after the first two seasons, will follow the same process as a new group of bachelors embrace the pods, trying to find their perfect match.
“It’s fascinating,” shows cohost Nick Lachey told exclusively Us weekly ahead of the season 2 premiere of the Netflix series. “Especially given the success of Season 1 and seeing two couples in love who are still married to this day? If I saw that and I was looking for love, why wouldn’t you want to be a part of it? You know, it’s been proven to work!”
The 98 Degrees singer, who married cohost Vanessa Lachey in July 2011, opened up further about why the reality TV show’s premise was so intriguing.
“This dating world is not one I’ve ever been a part of – this very superficial ‘swipe left’. There’s so much judgment and you can google anyone. I’m not from that era,” said the Masked singer alum told Us. “It starts with connection. [Vanessa] and I had a really emotional connection before we were together much… that’s why this show appealed to us.
He teased: “It’s so exciting to see it all working in a different way again. No two seasons will be the same.”
Aside from trying to prove if love really is blind on the Netflix reality TV series, the Lacheys and Coelen also teamed up for The ultimatum: get married or move on. Premiering on the streaming platform in April 2022, six couples get the chance to find out if they’re ready to marry their long-term partner or if they’d rather go their separate ways.
Both seasons of Love is blind streaming now on Netflix.
