With maximums around 70 and relatively unpleasant winds, today was almost perfect. Let’s hope you were able to get some of it from the sunny side of the street. If not, more is on the way on Tuesday. Switching leaves remains the only weather-related game in town for now.
See you tonight: It won’t be as cold tonight as it was last night. Still, you’ll probably want one or two coats. Under mostly clear skies, temperatures will range from close to 40s to the upper 40s for lows. The wind will be weak and changeable.
Tomorrow (Tuesday): We get a lot of sun and few clouds. That will help warm up temperatures a bit past where they were today, with peaks mainly in a zone of the near 70s to low 70s. The wind is blowing slightly from the south.
Coldest of the season so far: Weekend temperatures dropped to 41 in DC, 34 in Dulles and 36 in Baltimore. Most spots were a tad milder Sunday night, but Dulles hit 34 again. The lows with this cold shot were mainly in the low and mid-30s to the west and northwest, mid-30s to about 40 in the Interstate 95 corridor , and similar for southern Maryland and the Bay. Much of West Virginia’s highest terrain and parts of Western Maryland are submerged to or beyond freezing at this point. High-altitude valleys, such as Canaan Valley, W.Va., are much more submerged. This morning it was 15.4 degrees there.
