Continue! Days after Katie Maloney and Tom Schwartz finalized their divorce after five years of marriage, the Harper’s Globe actress is open about how she handles it.
“I am definitely ready for a fresh start. That was really terrifying, you know, taking that jump and stuff, and now I’m really embracing the unknown and the possibility of the unknown,’ Vanderpump rules star, 35, exclusively narrated Us Weekly at BravoCon 2022 on Saturday, October 15. “It is scary. But, you know, one day at a time. Some days are harder than others, but I just want [Tom and I] to go to a good place and make friends.”
While Katie – who filed for divorce earlier this year – noted that both she and TomTom co-founder, 39, still have “a lot of love for each other”, moving on as singles has been challenging.
“[It’s] it will be a work in progress, probably for a long time to come,” the Utah resident said Saturday while attending the convention at the Javits Center in New York City. “We’ve brought out so much of our relationship and our lives for almost the entire relationship, so it would feel wrong in some ways not to be open about it.”
The Bravo costars — who tied the knot in 2016 and again in 2019 after learning they were never legally married — announced in March that they had decided to split up.
“I never thought I’d have to make an announcement like this. But it’s important to me that I’m open about my life with you,” the podcast host ‘You’re Gonna Love Me’ wrote via Instagram at the time. on an adventure through our life together, Tom and I end our marriage. This end is not met with resentment or hostility, no side to choose. We have deep admiration for each other that will last forever and cherish our friendship. ”
The Minnesota native, for his part, shared his own statement after news of their breakup made headlines. ‘I am not the victim. I’m not going to write too sad a song,” he wrote in an Instagram post. “Fully respect Katie’s decision and we’ve had healthy, productive conversations about it. It would be much sadder if she decided to stay with me while she not happy.”
U.S confirmed on Thursday, Oct. 13, that the pair’s divorce had been finalized a day earlier, and they agreed to split the profits from the sale of their joint California home and divide their remaining assets.
While Katie is ready to embark on a new chapter post-divorce, she isn’t ready to dive into another long-term romance at this point.
‘I don’t want a relationship yet. I just want to have fun now,” she told U.S on Saturday, teasing that some of her dates on the next season of Vanderpump rules. “I never thought I’d ever do that [be in this position and I] thought [Tom] was my eternal person, so yes, this [is] very strange.”
While Katie played coy about who she saw, Tom Sandoval and Ariana Madix confirmed at the BravoCon panel of the cast on Saturday that she had the “most surprising hookup” in the new episodes.
