She says she only cleans her face at night. “I never cleanse my skin in the morning,” she says. “My grandmother taught me that at night your skin replenishes all the things you lost during the day. Hayek tells People that she likes restorative yoga as a way to stay in shape. “I work with a woman in London who taught me how to hold my body so that the muscles are activated all day long. So even when you brush your teeth, you train the muscles. It’s restorative yoga. She taught me how to show [my muscles] without clamping them. You relax them and focus on the parts that need to be used, but never with tension. If you are aware of your body, you would be surprised by the effect it can have.”

Hayek tells The New York Times that there are some skin care routines she avoids. “Exfoliating a lot can make you look good in the short term, but I don’t think in the long run,” she says. “I see a lot of women in LA who have exfoliated so much they look shiny. I’ll be using a mix of serums and oils that day depending on my skin.”
