Shootings at 2 Brazilian schools left 3 dead and 11 injured

BRASILIA, Brazil — A gunman armed with a semi-automatic pistol and wearing a bulletproof vest shot three people, including two teachers, and injured 11 after he raided two schools in southeastern Brazil on Friday, authorities said.

The shootings took place at a public school serving elementary and high school students and a private school, both located on the same street in the small town of Aracruz in the state of Espirito Santo, the state’s public security secretariat said in a statement. The identity of the third person killed was not immediately clear, nor was it known if any students had been killed or injured. The shooter is still on the run, the secretariat said.
