German deputy major Constantin Film has appointed Martin Bachmann, former director of Sony Pictures Entertainment for German-speaking Europe, to the board of directors.
Bachmann will take up the position on July 1 this year.
Within the German film industry, Bachmann’s name is synonymous with Sony. He has been with the US Major for more than three decades and has held various positions, including general manager of Sony Pictures Entertainment Germany, Austria and Switzerland and general manager of the local production division Deutsche Columbia Pictures. He has overseen the releases of some of Sony’s most successful films in the area, including the Spider-Man and Jumanji franchises, the James Bond movies of Casino royale until Ghostas well as Quentin Tarantino’s Django unleashed and Once upon a time in Hollywood. His German-language production successes include hits in the local language Anatomy, Who am I, The vampire sisters and 25 KM/H.
Martin Moszkowicz, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Constantin Film, called Bachmann a “high-profile, experienced manager” and noted that his appointment “will highlight Constantin Film’s commitment to the global theater film business”.
Bachmann noted: “Constantin Film is the only studio in Germany producing content for both the German and international markets. The best filmmakers and creatives work there, and I’m incredibly excited and very much looking forward to being a part of this company now, especially given the great opportunities, opportunities and challenges ahead for the entire entertainment business.
Constantin, one of Europe’s leading independent manufacturers/distributors, is known for franchises such as resident evil and the German-language school comedy films Suck me Shakespear (Fack ju Göhte).
