Spain: Police detain suspect for letter bomb to Prime Minister, embassies

MADRID – Spanish authorities have arrested a retired man on suspicion that he sent six letters containing explosive material to the Spanish prime minister and the US and Ukrainian embassies in the country, police said in a statement.

The 74-year-old Spanish national was arrested in the northern town of Miranda de Ebro and was “very active” on social media, police said. They added that authorities “are not ruling out other people’s participation or influence” in the case, and that a search of the man’s home was still ongoing.
