This tiny house is ready to take off.
Photos reveal a wacky new airplane-shaped cabin – dubbed the ‘Jet House’ – nestled in the forest in Zala County, southern Hungary.
Said by the architects to combine “function with fantasy,” the whimsical abode comes equipped with a small kitchenette and bathroom, as well as a bed tucked into the nose of the aircraft. Two real airplane seats, authentic luggage lockers and a table with built-in cup holders make up the lounge area, and on the outside, the wings of the plane serve as two open-air terraces to relax on.
The architects behind it say, ‘It looks like it flew out of a cartoon and landed on the meadow with its gentle arches and curves and rounded windows.’
Amazingly, the lead designer behind the project is only 12 years old. Young Lujzi Pados has always loved airplanes, so she and her father made the plans for the tiny house, which they believed could be used as both a playhouse and a holiday rental.

The idea for the cabin came from young Lujzi Pados (pictured), who loves airplanes
Armed with sketches, the family then approached the Hungarian architectural firm Hello Wood to realize the design.
The designers say: ‘Lujzi dreamed of a playhouse in which she could retreat, invite her friends and sleep in, which could later be converted into living space. She came to the first meetings with detailed ideas and plans on paper.’
They add that the concept was to create a “full-fledged, functional tiny house more reminiscent of fancy toys than a building.”

The end result is described as a ‘children’s fantasy come true’. To enter the jet-shaped cabin, you climb an “airport stairway” at the tail of the plane. Inside there is a ‘retro airplane atmosphere’ with round furniture and wooden accents.
Aviation-themed ornaments from Lujzi and her father’s collections are scattered throughout — there’s a Pan Am model airplane, a series of boarding passes and inflight brochures, and several airplane-shaped ornaments.
The airplane seats and cabins came from Sky Art, an online supplier of authentic airplane furniture.
The cabin covers 29 m², can accommodate two people and meals can be prepared on an electric stove. The interior is air-conditioned and the exterior is coated with a waterproof material to keep moisture out.

The concept was to create a ‘full-fledged, functional tiny house that is more reminiscent of beautiful toys than a building’
With a basic structure made of plywood, more than a thousand different structural parts were implemented in the structure.
Tamas Fulop, the project architect of the Jet House, comments on the design: ‘We were happy to accept the unusual assignment.
“As an architect, it’s an inspiring job to design a structure that should be cute. It was also a challenge to incorporate traditional architectural elements into the sculptural form, such as waterproofing and thermal insulation.’
It has not yet been confirmed when the Jet House will launch as a holiday home, but Hello Wood notes: ‘Lujzi is delighted with her cozy Jet, and would be delighted if others could also experience what it is like to live in an airplane house. ‘
