A popular Melbourne baker has fooled millions of her followers after sharing a cartoon cake that looks so real that her fans won’t believe it’s a cake.

Tigga MacCormack, co-owner of Cake for Days, joined the recent TikTok trend of making “cartoon cake,” aka a dessert that looks like something straight out of a comic book.

Tigga uploaded a video of her baking process, but many of her followers still demanded proof that she cut the cake to prove it was real: “You can’t fool us.”

“The kind of cake I’m making is a trend that’s been around for a few months, but I haven’t made one yet and I thought, ‘I want to get in on the action,'” the baker said when she uploaded her tutorial to TikTok.

“I wish I had come up with this concept. Every time I see one I think “It looks so cool”.

“If you have no idea what I’m talking about, making a cartoon is a piece of cake. Comic book style cake is all the rage right now.”

She added, “It’s a super simple concept, you literally line everything in black so it looks like a drawing when the cake is at a certain angle.”

Tigga used old leftover red velvet cake to make her cartoon cake.

She first cut her cake into triangles and then stacked them with pink ganache to make them look like a triple cake.

She also used the ganache to cover and smooth the piece of cake.

She then covered the cake with yellow and pink fondant and cut the fondant so that it looked like the icing on the cake was melting.

On the side of the cake she added strips of blue fondant, a fondant candle, a dollop of blue fondant on top and a fondant icing.

She made thin strips of black fondant and outlined all the features of the cake in black to give it a cartoonish look.

How to make your own cartoon cake?

* Make a cake or use leftover cake and cut it into three equal sized triangles.

* Stack them with pink ganache to make them look like a triple cake.

* Brush the cake with ganache and smooth out.

* Roll out a piece of yellow fondant and fold it onto the long sides of the cake, then roll out pink fondant and shape it onto the short back and top of the cake.

* Cut off the excess fondant and shape it so that it looks like the icing on the cake is melting.

* Add strips of blue fondant to the side of the cake, top the cake with a swirl of blue fondant and a fondant icing.

*Make a candle out of fondant, stick it on a toothpick and insert it into the top of the cake.

* Make thin strips of black fondant and outline all the cake features in black, then add small black circles to the side of the cake.

Many who saw the cake simply did not believe it was dessert.

“No, you have to cut it to believe it’s real,” one woman said.

“You can’t fool us. You just put a cartoon cake there,” wrote another.

“My brain hurts, did you turn it into a cartoon cake or is it real, I can’t say,” another commented.

The chef said she took the accusations as a “massive compliment” but uploaded a video of her cutting the cake to prove it was really cake.

Previously, Tigga impressed thousands by hiding her ultra-realistic-looking cake on a supermarket shelf.

In a clip that’s going viral, she searches the grocery store aisle, challenging viewers to guess which item on the shelves is actually made of cake.

The clever baker later revealed that one of the Milo tins, which is indistinguishable from the tins next to it, was actually made of cake by taking a huge bite out of it.

Before the reveal, some eagle-eyed viewers in the comments clocked the “can” like a cake, while others were left baffled.

“I was convinced it was the T2 box omg,” said one fan after Tigga revealed the real cake.

‘I was right! The only way I knew is because it was a slightly darker green,” said another.

Tigga even scans the cake at the register which comes across as a regular Milo can confusing the cashier who said it was “very convincing.”

The Melbourne pastry chef explained how she creates her incredibly convincing cakes using a special edible image printer.

“I take the label off the real product, scan it into my computer, and then I check on my computer that all the dimensions are correct,” she said.

Tigga then prints the label on edible paper with edible ink and said that while it’s close, the ink won’t always give her an exact color match.

Her Milo pie clip was part of a viral series called Shopping with Tigga where she hides her realistic pies on the shelves at her local Coles or Woolworths.

She also made a tomato sauce bottle cake identical to the one on the shelf next to it.

In the first of two videos, which has been viewed 3.4 million times, Tigga showed off an aisle of a supermarket in which her cake was indistinguishable from other sauce bottles.

In the second video, the baker flips through the shelves before picking up one of the “bottles” and biting into it, revealing it to be cake.

“I’ve watched this 1,000 times and can’t help feeling like I’m being cheated,” commented comedian Christian Hull.

“I fooled so many of you,” the baker captioned the second clip.

Hundreds of viewers in the comments said they guessed correctly, but others admitted they were stunned.

“What – no way, you absolutely fooled me, you are amazing,” said one woman.

“I guessed it — but girl, I was scanning the video to find it!” This is the best,” wrote a second.

In a video on Instagram, Tigga showed how she made the sauce bottle cake by stacking layers of cake and then cutting them into shape.

“One of the hardest things about making a cake like this is getting it the perfect size. Once you cut the cake you need to add ganache on the outside and then also fondant,” she said.

Tigga said she “blended” the shape and lid of the bottle and used an edible link printer to reproduce the MasterFoods label.

“With edible ink it’s really hard to get an exact match and a lot of people said that was the main reason they could tell the difference,” she explained.
