Ved has crossed the 55 crores mark at the box office. The Marathi blockbuster continues to collect in its fourth week and that was reflected in the Sunday collections of 1.75 crore*. This is now basically the only film to be collected as there is no Bollywood film in sight, the Tamil release Varisu is barely collected in its Hindi version and even Avatar: The Way of Water has been delayed. You did not expect that there would be a Marathi movie that would be the best selling movie.
So far, the film has delivered 55.40 crore* and it is quite surprising. That being said, the movie could have added at least a few crores more if the weekdays of the third week continued with the momentum that had just started. Somehow, during this period, the collections had entered the 60-70 lakhs zone when they really should have stayed above the 1 crore mark or at least come close to it. This turned out not really to be the case, so the moolah is a bit less than expected.
That’s what would make the difference between the total of 65 crores where the Riteish Deshmukh movie will eventually get to and the 70 crores where it could have gotten. If that had been the case then there was a good possibility that some stretch would even brine it to overtake Sairat. Now that film was indeed special, but given the commercial mass masala character of VedCan we raise the bar now? theater box office performance of Marathi movies. It has now been shown that such figures are indeed possible for the industry.
