Woman finds out friend has one leg after ‘ghostly’ photo

A young woman recalls the moment she discovered her then-boyfriend was hiding a huge personal secret after taking a closer look at a “haunting” photo.

When she was 17, Tiffany, from the US, dated a “tall, gorgeous” boy she met at a rodeo show and the pair were together for nine months.

But after three months, she noticed that he always wore long pants in hot weather and wouldn’t let her go to one of his basketball games.

After taking a closer look at a photo they had taken together, she realized she had been dating a man with “one leg.”

“If you ever thought you were blissfully unaware, let me tell you about a time I dated a guy for three months before I found out he had no leg,” she said in a TikTok video.

When she was 17, Tiffany (pictured) and her then boyfriend were head over heels in love. But after three months of relationship, she noticed that he started acting “weird” and always wore long pants in hot weather. He also did not allow her to attend his basketball games

After looking closely at a photo they took together, she realized she had been dating a man with “one leg” (pictured: the photo). Tiffany shared the story on TikTok

In the clip, Tiffany said the two quickly became “inseparable” and “fell in love” shortly after meeting.

We saw each other every day, we spent every waking moment together. We were young lovers. We went out for three months. We were in love… we really liked things,” she said.

She then goes on to claim that “some weird things started happening” that she picked up on.

“He came to my softball games, 32 degrees [Celsius] wearing sweatpants again. I’m like, what a weird fashion choice (but) I didn’t say anything,” she said.

“Once he put his arm around me and he was limping. I was like, ‘Why are you limping?’ and he was like ‘Oh, it’s an old knee injury’. So I thought, oh okay, that makes sense.’

When she asked him to play basketball, he said, “There’s no way you can come to my basketball games.”

“I was like, ‘Why not?’ He said, ‘I don’t have a performance… fear… I just don’t want you to come,’” Tiffany continued.

“I was like, ‘Even if you’re the worst on the team, you’re about six feet tall, you can’t be the worst on the team. You’re standing there and you’re better than half the other guys.’

But he replied with, “No, I just don’t want you to come.”

One night, the couple had a picture taken together before going out to dinner, which finally made Tiffany realize why her boyfriend was acting so strange.

“This picture is haunting,” she said, showing the image in the background of the two standing next to each other, smiling.

“The next day I posted this photo on Facebook and the more I stared at it, the more I thought, ‘I think I’m being fooled.'”

Feeling confused, she decided to show her friends the picture and ask for advice.

“I said, ‘Guys, I think my boyfriend only has one leg,'” she said.

“They said, ‘Why would he hide that from you?’ and I was like, ‘I don’t know. But I don’t know how to ask him if he has one leg, because like… How do you bring that up?”

When the couple attended their prom, he finally told her his secret.

“We had an after-prom house where we’d go to a lake, so he’d have to wear a bathing suit,” she said.

“He took me to a park and said, ‘I need to talk to you about something.'”

He explained that he had polio – a disease that causes paralysis – and Tiffany told him she knew something wasn’t right.

“I was like, ‘Listen, I’ve suspected this for a few weeks and you made it really weird by not telling me,'” she said in response.

“I asked, ‘What did you think I was going to do?’ He replied, “I don’t know, you met me and you didn’t know, so I just ran with it.”

“I was like ‘I think just three months? Did you hide it for three months?’ I am so stupid and ignorant.’

Despite this, the couple stayed together for “another six months” and then broke up after Tiffany left for college.

The detailed video has since been viewed a staggering 2.3 million times and thousands have been in disbelief.

Others shared their personal stories with partners who have similar conditions.

“My husband did the same thing when we first started dating. He was afraid that I would leave him. We were together 25 years before he died of cancer,” one woman wrote.

“I was with a guy for a year and he had toes that were missing but I never asked because I thought if he wanted to tell me he would,” said another.

Another added: “I feel less bad now. I went all night without realizing that a girl had one arm. She hugged me and everything.’
