Real Housewives of Sydney star Dr Kate Adams has shared a heartbreaking video revealing she is struggling with an unknown kidney issue.

The celebrity veterinarian, 41, who appeared on season two of RHOS, took to Instagram Stories on Thursday with a clip from her hospital bed, explaining to fans why she has been out of action for some time.

‘So, the very short story is that my kidneys are not working that well. They thought that this is some kind of immune attack on my kidneys due to the fact that I always get tonsillitis,’ Kate began.

‘So they thought they’ll take my tonsils out, see if that helps the immune system from attacking the kidneys. So far that hasn’t worked,’ she lamented.

Sadly, Kate said her kidneys are still ‘deteriorating’ even though she had her tonsils removed on Monday, adding: ‘So that’s bad. Very, very bad.’

‘Tomorrow I’m having a kidney biopsy. It’ll be unpleasant, I’m sure. How do I feel about that? I feel not great. I feel pretty upset about the whole thing,’ she admitted.

‘But I’m just taking it one day by one day. My hair hasn’t been washed in a very long time. My throat is very sore, obviously. My face is very puffy. It is what it is, right?’

Kate went on to reveal how she has been mentally coping in hospital, including regularly applying luxury moisturiser, carrying a heart-shaped piece of rose quartz, using her AirPods and chatting to friends on the phone.

The reality star went on to thank her friends and fans for the well wishes.

‘Thank you all for the messages of love and support I appreciate it. I don’t know if things are going to be okay but I always say if it’s not okay it’s not the end’ she shared.

It comes after Kate revealed in November that she is definitely up for appearing on another season of Real Housewives of Sydney.

The Bondi Vet owner confessed on the TV Reload podcast she loved the drama she generated with her fellow housewives and would do it all over again.

Kate has been at the centre of several fights on the show – locking horns with Krissy Marsh over the veteran housewife’s cruel comments about the her and with Victoria Montana over the fashion & lifestyle consultant’s penchant for fur.

‘About coming back next year, there seems to be a clear divide between the girls. When the show picks up again will we see more of a divide between you?’ host Benjamin Norris asked her.

‘When alliances start to form the show starts to not work. You see that in season one fairly clearly,’ she replied.

Kate began her career by appearing on Bondi Vet and made her debut on season two of RHOS late last year.

In October, Kate revealed while she has enjoyed her time on RHOS, she has no plans to give up her day job as she loves animals too much to even consider it.
