They are first seen in a car as they head to the restaurant at night. Brad is in the driver’s seat of the sports car as there is a certain sexual tension between them.

The Oscar-winning diva asks Brad what she should order for dinner, he says he does not know.

But then he offers that a steak seems like a good idea.

While in the French restaurant he says they should have Chateaubriand, so he asks for two. Both order the steak done medium rare and they ask for it to be ‘hot.’

‘What time did you leave for Monte Carlo yesterday?’ asks the Spanish siren.

The waitress – played by Rianne Van Rompaey – seems irritated as she interrupts to ask if they want starters, but they both say no.

‘I think she’s annoyed with us. She’s definitely not happy,’ he says after the waitress walks away.

‘Do you want us to make her happy?’ coos Cruz. She has her black Chanel purse on the table between them.

She then she asks the waitress if they have any rooms available in the hotel where the restaurant is located: ‘Excuse me. Sorry, do you have any rooms available?’ asks Cruz.

It is implied that they will be having sex after the dinner.

The pair is also seen dressed in black as they walk on a beach in Deauville while giving each other sexy looks.

The short film was made to open Chanel’s Fall-Winter 2024-25 Ready to-Wear show.

It is a tribute to the film A Man and a Woman by French director Claude Lelouch. The short film aims to capture ‘the beginning of a love story in Deauville, a place dear to the House and the inspiration behind the collection imagined by Virginie Viard.’

Pitt has worked with Cruz’s husband, Javier Bardem. Javier is now starring in Pitt’s untitled project about Formula One racing.

Vogue helped explain more about this short movie.

The clip is based on the classic 1966 movie A Man and a Woman. In that French film the stars are Anouk Aimée and Jean-Louis Trintignant.

They play two widowed parents who meet at their children’s boarding school. Soon they find that they have a mutual attraction.

Chanel’s short homage re-creates the scene where the two sit opposite each other in a Deauville hotel restaurant.

In the original scene, a handbag—Aimée’s own Chanel bag—was placed by the director Claude Lelouch on the table between them.

This happens again in the Pitt/Cruz movie.

In Lelouch’s original film, Trintignant ask about the room, but here Cruz does it, which empowers the female as she makes the first move toward the bedroom. As Inez & Vinoodh explained: 'The complicity between the two women—which is a central theme to everything we make for Chanel—encourages Penélope’s decision to make that first move'

Cruz gushed about the film to Vogue.

‘I’ve seen it many times before already, but only by myself at home,’ said the Volver actress.

‘And I think Inez & Vinoodh did something incredible. A Man and a Woman is one of my favorite films ever, and Claude Lelouch is one of my favorite directors.

‘And Anouk Aimée has always been one of my favorite actresses. And she’s such a beauty, such a fashion icon.

‘So to be able to be part of this beautiful homage—to the film, to Claude, to the Deauville Festival, to the relationship between Deauville and Chanel and between Gabrielle and Deauville…. There are so many layers. And they are all so beautiful. And they are also truthful.’
