Ronnie O’Sullivan, Mark Selby and Judd Trump have repeatedly impressed with their cue skills, solidifying themselves as favourites for the tournament.
The bookies have The Rocket, who recently won his record breaking eighth UK championship, as a slim favourite for the competition with current German Masters champion Judd Trump narrowly behind him.
For O’Sullivan, the World Championship highlights an opportunity for his name to be further etched into the annals of snooker and a potential history maker.
Should he win at The Crucible, O’Sullivan would become an eight-time world champion, pulling one ahead of Stephen Hendry as the all-time leader in the modern era.
