Girls Aloud have shared three previously unreleased songs featuring the late Sarah Harding, three-years after her tragic death from cancer aged 39.

To mark its 20th anniversary the group, consisting of Cheryl, Nicola Roberts, Nadine Coyle and Kimberley Walsh, have reissued their acclaimed 2004 album What Will The Neighbours Say? with previously unheard tracks.

They include Disco Bunny, Baby When You Go as well as their cover of Chris Isaak’s 1991 classic Wicked Game, the later of which was due to be released as a single in 2005 before being replaced by their tune Long Hot Summer.

The album, which was the group’s second, featured smash hit singles including Jump, Love Machine and I’ll Stand By You.

The band will also be heading on the road in May and June this year to celebrate their anniversary.

Cheryl revealed the group had been discussing reunion plans but put the idea on ice when Sarah – who died in September 2021 – was diagnosed with breast cancer.

The group plan to use the tour to ‘celebrate’ their late friend.

Cheryl added: ‘But now, I think there is an energy that does makes it feel right. It’s the right time to celebrate Sarah, it’s the right time to celebrate the band and the right time to celebrate the fact we can still do this 21 years later.

‘That’s a big honour in lots of ways.’

It comes after Cheryl revealed that Sarah gave her blessing for Girls Aloud to reunite without her after her death.

Cheryl said during an appearance on Heart Breakfast: ‘I did speak to Sarah one on one at one point, this was in the later stages when she was really poorly though, and she’d said to me, “I hope you four do something when I’m not here” and in that moment I couldn’t entertain that conversation. I was trying to keep her up.’

Amanda said: ‘I think she would be absolutely thrilled that you were doing this.’

Kimberley responded: ‘We always talk about how much she loved Girls Aloud. She loved it.

‘It was just the best time ever for her, we spoke so much about it the few months before she passed away and how much she loved it, she made us watch old videos, the things we’d done together, she always said we had an amazing time together.

‘Amanda you’re absolutely right, she would love that we were doing this.’

They also confirmed that Sarah’s vocals would be kept in and unchanged for the tour, and they would not be taking over her ‘iconic’ solo parts.

Nadine explained: ‘They [Sarah’s vocal parts] will remain the same, her vocal parts are big parts like ‘Walking Primrose’, she is the actual walking primrose and ‘take a walk on the wild side’, she’s got some iconic Sarah’s bits. They will be Sarah’s bits. Why would we? They are her bits.’

Girls Aloud originally formed in 2002 and, after winning ITV’s Pop Stars: The Rivals shot to fame, achieving 20 top-ten singles and five BRIT award nominations.

The group took an initial break in 2009 to pursue other projects before they split for good in 2013.
