Shoppers spot major flaw with 'large' Easter eggs that's costing them more

EASTER can be an expensive time – with many people having to shell out on tonnes of chocolate eggs for family members.

So it’s no surprise that savvy shoppers have been trying to work out which eggs are the best value for money.

Savvy shoppers have realised you only get one extra Creme Egg when you buy a 'large' Easter egg - the chocolate egg inside is the same size

It's the same with the Dairy Milk eggs too - the regular one comes with a pack of buttons and the large one comes with two Caramel bars

And in doing so, they quickly discovered a major flaw with the Cadbury eggs marked as “large” in the supermarket.

“They both have the exact same ‘Large’ egg in them, the standard Creme Egg edition has 1x creme egg and the ‘larger’ edition has just 2x eggs with the exact same sized Easter egg,” one shopper took to Facebook to write.

“Price is ridiculous for the difference: £2.99 for the standard and a whopping £4.49 for the privilege of 1 extra Creme Egg”.

That’s just robbing us!

Disgruntled shopper

They added that the standard Easter egg is 195g in weight, while the larger one is 235g – and a Creme egg is 40g.

“Dairy Milk is slightly different with again both the same size Easter egg in each (even though the packaging makes it look different),” they continued.

The small egg contains an egg and a pack of chocolate buttons, while the larger one instead contains two Caramel bars.

“Again £2.99 and £4.49 respectively… 195g vs 245g overall net weight difference,” they added.

Concluding, they wrote: “Don’t go getting ripped off thinking they’re larger sized Easter eggs in the bigger packs as they’re not.

“And with the creme egg one being a total rip off – paying £1.49 extra for just 1x creme egg…”

People were quick to comment on the post, with one writing: “I noticed this year they are marking them up as large when I swear the exact same eggs with 1 x packet of something would have been a medium egg last year.

“Rip off!”

Everyone can see the rabbit but you have 20/20 vision if you can spot the 12 special Easter eggs in under 20 seconds

“I noticed this and didn’t buy the ‘larger’ one!” another added.

“That’s just robbing us isn’t it?” a third raged.

“Felt ripped off, they used to be much bigger!” someone else agreed.

As another wrote: “Very clear from both boxes that both have a ‘large’ egg in them so why anyone who looked at the box would think that the egg was bigger, I don’t know.

“Defo a total rip off £1.49 for an extra cream egg though.”

Others pointed out that the eggs are cheaper in Tesco when you take advantage of the “Clubcard price”.

Cadbury has been contacted for comment.
